Silver Street Clinic Courses
Silver Street Clinic are very pleased to offer a range of Mindfulness based courses in 2017. Completion of our 8 week courses qualify participants for free membership of the Maldon Mindfulness Centre which offers weekly ‘staying Mindful’ sessions which help to maintain practice.

Mindfulness is the art of being in the present. It is a simple practice which can be incorporated and applied to everyday life wherever we are and whatever we are doing.
“It means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present and non-judgmentally.” ( Jon Kabat-Zinn)
Research has shown that regular Mindfulness practice is effective in:
- reducing and managing stress and anxiety
- reducing the likelihood of recurrence of a depressive illness
- helping with the management of chronic pain
On a physical level Mindful meditation has been shown to improve:
- control of blood sugar in Type 2 Diabetes
- heart and circulatory health by reducing blood pressure
- immune system functioning
On a general level it helps us to:
- feel more in control and less reactive to events and people around us
- be more aware of our thoughts, emotions and of the physical sensations in our bodies
- increase working memory functioning, concentration and verbal reasoning
- develop greater patience and tolerance and reduce negative cycles of thinking
