Not sure which CBT therapist to choose?
Finding a therapist can feel confusing, particularly when different therapists have different areas of expertise, qualifications and availability.
You don't need to work all of this out before contacting us.
Tell us a little about what you would like help with, when you are available for sessions and any preferences you have about the therapist you see. We can then consider which of our therapists may be appropriate and check their current availability on your behalf.
This means you don't have to contact several therapists individually to find out whether they may be suitable or have appointments available.
If you already have a particular therapist in mind, that's absolutely fine too. Simply tell us who you would like to see when completing the enquiry form and we can check their availability.
What is
CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured form of psychological therapy that explores the connections between our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours.
When we experience difficulties such as anxiety, depression or other mental health problems, patterns of thinking and behaviour can sometimes develop that unintentionally keep the problem going. CBT can help you recognise and understand these patterns and develop different ways of responding to them.
CBT is usually focused on the difficulties you are experiencing now, while also considering relevant past experiences where these help you and your therapist understand how current patterns may have developed.
Treatment is collaborative. You and your therapist work together to develop an understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing and agree what you would like therapy to help you change.
What can CBT help with?
CBT is used to treat a wide range of mental health difficulties, but the most appropriate therapy will depend on the individual and the difficulties they are experiencing.
You do not need to know whether CBT is the right treatment before contacting Silver Street Clinic. Tell us a little about what you are experiencing and we can consider which therapists and approaches may be appropriate for you.
How do I arrange CBT through Silver Street Clinic?
1. Tell us what you're looking for
Complete our online enquiry form and tell us a little about what you would like help with, when you are available for appointments and any preferences you have about your therapist.
2. We consider suitable therapists
We use the information you provide to consider which of our therapists may be appropriate for your needs and preferences.
3. We check availability for you
We contact suitable therapists to find out who currently has availability at the times you can attend. If you have requested a particular therapist, we can check their availability for you.
4. Your therapist contacts you
Once we have identified an appropriate therapist with suitable availability, we can arrange for them to contact you directly. Our therapists manage their own diaries and will arrange an initial assessment appointment with you.
5. Attend your initial assessment
Initial assessments cost £80. This gives you and your therapist an opportunity to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing, what you would like help with and an appropriate treatment plan. If you decide to continue, your therapist will explain their ongoing session fee and arrange future appointments directly with you.
We aim to help clients arrange an initial assessment within 10 days of their enquiry, subject to therapist availability, clinical suitability and the times you are able to attend.
